For calling sika stags during the\u00a0rut, start by expanding the lower part of the call, place<\/p>\n<p>the mouthpiece to your lips and start to blow softly<br \/>\ninto the call, growl, and then soft again. Carefully<br \/>\nchange to blow hard to reach a high pitched whistling<br \/>\nnoise, then carefully change intensity again to blow<br \/>\nshort and soft and growl softly. Call three times like<br \/>\nthis, wait and adjust your next calling sequence to the<br \/>\nresponse of the deer. Note, sometimes the stags approaches<br \/>\nwithout response. For best result, open and<br \/>\nclose your hands in front of the call for a more authentic<br \/>\nsound. Make sure you do not blow any saliva into<br \/>\nthe mouthpiece.<br \/>\nThis call can also be used to imitate the distress call<br \/>\nof a red deer calf. This sound agitates the hind herd,<br \/>\nattracting them to come close, often barking. This<br \/>\ntype of calling is most successful in areas with dense<br \/>\nred deer populations.<br \/>\nFor calling a red deer hind, expand the lower part of<br \/>\nthe call and place the mouthpiece between your lips<br \/>\nand exhale.
